Intellectual Disability Nursing

Introduction to the BSc (Hons) in Intellectual Disability Nursing discussing the theoretical and clinical components of this regional nursing programme which is delivered in association with our clinical partners. Also discussed is the alignment of the course to NMBI requirements.

Dr Mary Reidy: 

Awarded her PhD from Waterford Institute of Technology, Mary is the Programme Leader for the BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing. Graduating as a Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disabilities (RNID) from Waterford Institute of Technology, she has over 10 years experience working with people with ID and their families. She has worked with adults with ID and Autism in day service settings. She also has extensive experience working with children with emotional and behavioural challenges. 

Dr Sinead Foran  

Awarded her PhD from Trinity College, Dublin, Sinéad is a lecturer on the BSc in Intellectual Disability Nursing. Graduating as a Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disabilities (RNID) from COPE Foundation, Cork, Sinéad has over 20 years’ experience working with people with ID and their families. Sinéad has worked with children and adults with ID in a variety of healthcare settings including residential care and community based respite care.
